This measure is a 6-item questionnaire for female urinary incontinence used to determine incontinence type. It has been found to be reliable, and to be able to distinguish with accuracy between stress urinary incontinence and urge urinary incontinence in a referral patient population*.
* Bradley CS, Rovner ES, Morgan MA, Berlin M, Novi JM, Shea JA, Ayra LA. A new questionnaire for urinary incontinence diagnosis in women: Development and testing. Am J Obstet Gynecol 2005; 192:66-73Stress urinary incontinence (SUI), commonly known as bladder leaks, happen because the pelvic floor muscles that keep the urethra closed (and urine in your bladder) can naturally lose strength over time.
This is a common effect of childbirth, but can also happen to women of any ages who haven’t had children. Women who suffer from SUI, often experience those “oops” moments during activities that put pressure on the bladder (e.g. doing exercise, lifting something heavy, or even just laughing or coughing).
Stating the obvious, urine does not come out of the vagina.. That being said, Uresta is a uniquely designed bladder support that is inserted into the vagina and gently pushes against the vaginal wall to help keep the urethra closed. It’s just enough to keep urine in the bladder, but not too much to stop you from peeing when you want to. In some ways, it’s like an ankle brace for your bladder, allowing you to stop leaking and start living.
Uresta does not absorb urine, nor does it plug the urethra. When properly fitted you shouldn’t feel it at all.
Let’s face it, pads are a compromise, not a solution. You have to carry them around, find a bathroom to change, they feel bulky, and then there’s worries about odor. With Uresta, all that disappears, along with the pee leaks. It also feels good knowing you’re not adding more disposables to the landfill, plus you’re saving money! Use the scroll bar on the right to see how the annual cost of pads compares to just $139 for Uresta.
