We recently surveyed 100 women across the US to better understand their experience with stress urinary incontinence, also known as light bladder leakage or “mommy bladder”. We wanted to better understand how women were managing their leaks and how it impacted their daily lives. We originally conducted the survey for our own internal purposes, but […]

Dr. Scott Farrell, the inventor of Uresta, tells all about the inspiration behind his revolutionary, modern device. As the inventor of Uresta, I get a lot of questions. What’s your background? Why did you invent a pee-leak solution? Why did you name it Uresta? What in the world is a pessary? Urogynecology? Well, I’ve decided […]

I am a Physical Therapist who specializes in pelvic health and in my last blog we talked about the anatomy and function of the pelvic floor. In this blog, we discover two common conditions that can affect the pelvic floor; Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP) and Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI).

One of my closest friends for over 30 years and I, both suffered from stress urinary incontinence (SUI) for years before ever discussing it with each other. Unfortunately, that is a far too common reality when it comes to women suffering with the condition. A group of women investors and I decided we wanted to change this narrative when we acquired Uresta, an innovative new solution to SUI a number of years ago. Uresta is now led by a bright young female CEO, Lauren Barker, who is on a mission to introduce Uresta to more women than ever before.

An Introduction to Pelvic Floor Anatomy and Function in Women & Men
The pelvic floor is a complex system of muscles that perform a number of critical bodily functions, but despite this I am willing to bet you are not very familiar with this part of your body. I am a Physical Therapist who specializes in pelvic health and this blog will provide you a brief anatomy lesson on the architecture and function of the pelvic floor.

Like many areas of women’s health, the stress urinary incontinence (SUI) market has a long history of underinvestment. Although 1 in 2 women will experience urine leaks in their lifetime, the solutions offered to women continue to be archaic. Over the years sanitary belts made of cloth and leather straps have been replaced by disposable pads and traditional pessaries, but unfortunately not much has changed since then. Today, investment in femtech is growing at unprecedented rates and we are finally starting to see true innovation in women’s health – Uresta is one such example.
